Histology

Tissue preparation, staining, scanning, and analysis in one place

We run the full histology workflow, from embedding and sectioning through histochemical and immunostaining to high-resolution slide scanning and quantification. Each workflow is tailored to the project, and we take on samples that are hard to process.

Capabilities

We cover the path from raw tissue to an analyzed image.

• Paraffin and OCT embedding of all tissues, including hard-to-process samples such as adipose tissue

• Manual sectioning of paraffin and OCT embedded tissue blocks, with single or multiple sections per slide

• Preparation and mounting of tissue arrays

• Standard histochemical stains, such as H&E

• Special stains, such as Masson's trichrome

• Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF), with optional counterstains

• High-resolution brightfield and fluorescence scanning and imaging (5x to 100x magnification)

H&E stain: Liver infiltration.

Workflow

Sectioning and staining

We section paraffin blocks on a Leica Biosystems HM 325 manual microtome at 5 to 10 µm. Standard staining is H&E, with Mayer's hematoxylin for nuclei and eosin for cytoplasm, and special stains such as Masson's trichrome are available.

Immunostaining

We offer immunohistochemistry by both the direct method, using a single labeled antibody, and the indirect method, using an unlabeled primary antibody with a labeled secondary. Targets are chosen with the client for each project, and immunofluorescence is also available.

Scanning and imaging

Slides are scanned on a 3DHISTECH PANNORAMIC DESK II and delivered as .mrxs files readable in CaseViewer, shared online or on an encrypted disk. Immunofluorescent slides are imaged on a Keyence BZ-X800 fluorescence microscope.

Analysis

We provide quantification and histopathological evaluation, with optional scoring and opinion on request.

Tell us the tissues, stains, and readouts you need, and we will send an individual quote that we refine as the protocol firms up. If you need something not listed here, ask. Our team also takes on new methods.
